Cultural Competency in Clinical Care


Training Description:
The ON-DEMAND Cultural Competency in Clinical Care training is a 3-hour course led by Carlie Deadman, LPC-S, designed to enhance counselors’ ability to provide ethical and culturally responsive care. Rooted in AZBBHE rules, laws, statutes, and the ACA Code of Ethics, this training explores the impact of cultural diversity on mental health practice. Participants will gain tools to recognize and address personal biases, implement culturally tailored assessments and interventions, and navigate ethical dilemmas in diverse clinical settings. Through interactive discussions, case studies, and self-reflection, this course prepares counselors to build meaningful therapeutic relationships, promote advocacy, and meet the needs of diverse populations with confidence and professionalism.



Learning Objectives:
 
By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the impact of cultural diversity on mental health counseling and understand its importance in fostering effective therapeutic relationships.
  • Recognize and address personal biases and assumptions to enhance cultural responsiveness in counseling practice.
  • Apply culturally sensitive assessment tools and intervention techniques to meet the unique needs of diverse clients.
  • Navigate cultural and ethical dilemmas using guidance from AZBBHE rules, laws, statutes, and the ACA Code of Ethics.
  • Develop strategies for continuous professional growth and advocacy to promote equitable and inclusive mental health care.
