Dates: October 4-5, 2025 (Saturday & Sunday)
Time: 9:00am - 4:30pm MST (Arizona Time)
Location: LIVE via Zoom
Training Description:
This LIVE training helps clinicians adapt EMDR therapy for clients who have experienced chronic traumatization and dissociation. Using insights from interpersonal neurobiology, neurogenesis, and parts work from the structural dissociation lens, participants will learn how relationships shape the brain, and how trauma disrupts identity, memory, and emotional regulation. Clinicians gain practical tools to assess for dissociation, understand the structural dissociation spectrum, and apply a phase-based, parts-informed EMDR approach. We’ll explore how to recognize dissociative parts, manage blocked processing, and use titration strategies like EMD, EMDr, CIPOS, and co-regulation. The training highlights the importance of pacing, attunement, and therapist presence. Clinicians will learn how to work with protector parts, strengthen internal collaboration, and support clients in moving toward healing and integration. Therapist self-care, consultation, and nervous system awareness are emphasized as essential to ethical, effective trauma work.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Explain key concepts from interpersonal neurobiology and neurogenesis, including how relational and environmental experiences shape brain development and trauma recovery.
- Differentiate between PTSD and complex PTSD, and describe how chronic traumatization impacts identity, memory, and emotional regulation.
- Identify dissociative symptoms using validated tools (e.g., DES-II, MID-60) and apply this understanding to case conceptualization.
- Describe the structural dissociation model, including the roles of ANPs and EPs, and distinguish between ego states and dissociative parts.
- Apply the tri-phasic model to EMDR treatment, integrating pacing, titration, and adaptations such as EMD, EMDr, and CIPOS.
- Demonstrate strategies for building trust with protector parts and supporting internal collaboration through Phase 2 interventions and somatic co-regulation.
- Recognize the ethical importance of therapist self-regulation and self-care, and implement practices that protect the nervous system and support sustained trauma work.
